I am Eliot Avelar, a user experience designer. My personal interests include Tennis, video games, theme parks, and cooking.

Originally from Chicago, Illinois, I grew up right here in Central Florida. Throughout my childhood, I was enamored with technology. I further explored my love for technology by joining a technology-centered academy in high school, where I focused on game development and robotics.

My interests evolved into wanting to learn more about the beauty and effort put into making websites that many take for granted. I knew why I disliked certain websites, but I wanted to understand why I liked others. Following this curiosity has led me to where I am today—at the Nicholson School of Communication and Media, pursuing my Bachelor of Arts in Digital Media: Web and Interactive Media. My experience here has merely scratched the surface of my curiosity and interest in this field, and I'm eager to learn more.

Through my experiences at UCF, I've had the chance to dive into the world of web design by exploring server-side scripting and tinkering with the JavaScript that powers simple quiz forms or grocery lists. I've also gained experience on the front end to complement my backend knowledge, working with Figma designs and client-side scripting. I’m excited to continue my journey and update this portfolio with my latest web design projects and endeavors!
